FCFC24: Building community

In 2015 and 2016, Maisonneuve College in Montreal repeatedly found itself at the center of media attention in Quebec. Attempts by young people to leave to join the jihad in Syria and Iraq, along with some disturbances and fights hastily attributed to the radicalization of certain students, were cited as contributing factors. The college then decided to make "living together" its core educational project. It hired "corridor workers" and encouraged intercultural encounters, discussion forums, intergenerational debates, and other projects, hoping that the sharing of knowledge between the different cultures present would take place in a spirit of goodwill. The series is based on the perspectives of seven college students, recorded in 2018 and then again in the fall of 2021. We meet them at a turning point in their identity development and discover their worldview, their values, and their frustrations with adult life, the job market, and social pressure.
