In a far-from-posh neighborhood on the Island of Montreal in the late 1960s, Germaine Lauzon is the lucky winner of a million stamps, which will finally allow her to buy, from a catalogue, all the appliances, furniture, clothes, and other accessories she's always dreamed of. When the housewife invites her daughter, her sister, and her neighbors over for a small get-together to help her stick all the stamps in the numerous order booklets, jealousy grows among these women, who belong to an era that seems reluctant to end.
