The ACFA Calgary Regional Chapter, on behalf of Francophonie-Calgary, is pleased to announce that the 7th annual Calgary Francophonie Recognition Gala will be held THE<\/strong> Friday<\/strong> 17<\/strong> november<\/strong> 2023,<\/strong> starting at 6 p.m., at the Cit\u00e9 des Rocheuses, 4800 Richard Road, in Calgary.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This event will be preceded by the 10th Francothon organised by the Franco-Albertan Foundation at the Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de la Cit\u00e9, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

The GALA will be an opportunity to celebrate and relive the major events, activities, and gatherings that have brought joy to Calgary's diverse Francophone and Francophile cultural communities. These various initiatives, organized by the GALA's partners, have also enabled the participation of numerous volunteers and the creation of many new partnerships.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The GALA will also be an opportunity to recognize and thank all those who have made a difference in the community, through a ceremony to present 12 awards of excellence, and a multitude of certificates of recognition whose recipients will be revealed during the evening.<\/p>\n

Awards of excellence and certificates of recognition will be presented by numerous partners including: the FrancoSud School Board, the Immigrant Association Portal (PIA), the African Arts and Cultural Centre (AAAccent), the Alberta Economic Development Council (CD\u00c9A), the ACFA Calgary Regional, Campus Saint-Jean (University of Alberta), the Calgary Friendship Club, the Calgary Board of Education, the Ivorian-Canadian Association of Calgary, the Haiti-Alberta Sports and\/or Culture Club (HASCC), the Cameroonian Canadian Association of Calgary, the Newcomer Welcome Centre (CANAF), the Association of Guineans of Calgary, the F\u00e9d\u00e9ration des a\u00een\u00e9s franco-albertains (FAFA), the Alberta Health Network (RSA) and the Alliance fran\u00e7aise of Calgary (AFC).<\/p>\n

The ACFA of Calgary is proud to announce that the Honourable Tanya Fir, Minister of Arts, Culture and the Status of Women and Minister responsible for the Francophone Secretariat, as well as the Mayor of Calgary, Ms. Jyoti Gondek, and Ms. Kourtney Penner, City Councillor \u2013 Ward 11 of the City of Calgary, will honour us with their presence and participate in the awards ceremony for excellence and certificates of recognition.<\/p>\n

A theme for the GALA from 2023 and for future editions: To the five of the Francophonie, in order to represent the Francophone diversity of our community, but also The five frank colours which recall the various colours of the flags of the States and governments participating in the Summit of the Francophonie, bringing an international dimension to the symbol.<\/p>\n

The evening will also mark the 40th anniversary of the ACFA Calgary Regional and the 10th anniversary of the Francothon.<\/p>\n
