Near a village on the border between Quebec and the United States, the uncompromising customs officer Sonia confiscates the contents of Victor's car. Victor, a French chef struggling for recognition, lives in New York. She quickly regrets her decision when her daughter, Lili-Beth, decides to enter a Little Chefs competition where she seems to have little chance of success. Sonia decides to try everything to get help from the charming but exasperating Victor.
