In April 1976, Pierre Goldman's second trial took place. In prison for six years, he was suspected of having killed two pharmacists during an armed robbery in December 1969. While he admitted upon his arrest in April 1970 to three minor robberies, committed shortly before and after Christmas 1969, he nevertheless proclaimed his innocence for the double murder committed at the same time, during which a courageous young police officer attempted in the night to arrest the fleeing culprit.
